about us

Who we are

We are the Friends of Hanover Dog Parks (FOHDP). Our current goal is to establish a second dog park in Hanover County at Pole Green Park. But we can’t do it without your help! Visit our Facebook Page for up-to-date information. To receive our newsletters, send a brief request to [email protected].

What we do

The purpose of the Friends organization is to promote the health and welfare of companion animals and their owners through education and recreation. The Friends shall strive to work in close cooperation with Hanover County – to plan, promote, establish, operate, maintain, regulate and otherwise work – to create and support public off-leash dog parks in Hanover County; and to view the dog parks as community projects – in partnership with Hanover County, local businesses, and area civic organizations – that satisfy the needs of dog owners and non-dog owners alike.

How we work

Friends is comprised entirely of passionate volunteers and supported by equally passionate donors!

our mission

The mission of the Friends of Hanover Dog Parks is to enrich the quality of life in Hanover County through the establishment of recreational areas where dogs and people can interact in a safe, clean and pleasant environment.

non-profit status

The Friends was formed in 2012 as a Virginia non-profit corporation and is officially an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit effective April 2013.
